To participate in Parents' Night Out, children must be registered with DDD and must be pre-registered with Advancing Opportunities. For more information on pre-registering contact Jennifer Palmer, Parents' Night Out Coordinator, at 973-426-1522 ext. 13.
All children must eat dinner before arriving at program unless otherwise specified. Also, do not bring any personal items and/or toys that may get lost or broken. Please send a beverage and a PEANUT and TREE NUT FREE SNACK for your child unless PNO is providing refreshments.
Advancing Opportunities has a hands-off behavior management philosophy therefore no participants will be physically restrained. Positive behavior support is provided as much as possible.

Saturday, May 4
Walk in the Woods
Join us in Long Valley for a leisurely walk on the Columbia Trail. This is an old gravel rail bed—wide and flat, and w/c accessible. Wear your sneakers and bug spray and dress in layers. Bring a bag lunch and an extra water bottle-we will bring a wagon to carry our gear so we can have our picnic on the trail. We will probably cover a total of two miles. Drop-off and pickup is in the parking lot as noted
on front. Note to parents: there are antique shops and restaurants nearby for you to visit while we’re walking.

Somerset Patriots Ball Game
Meet us at the Budd Lake office and we will transport to the TD stadium for an afternoon game. Pick up is back at the office. Participants need to be able to tolerate a loud, crowded environment. PNO will purchase lunch & ice cream at the game. If they wish, children may bring souvenir money in a labeled envelope.

Family Music Night and Cinco de Mayo Potluck
Participants of all ages are invited to Music and Movement with Stella, alone or with a parent. Siblings are invited for no charge if a parent/caregiver stays for the program. PNO/ANO staff will be on-hand to support our registered participants as needed. Special tonight-Stella will add some Mexican music and we will put together a Mexican potluck dinner for all. Music and Movement Night
Tonight we will enjoy a music and movement class with Mrs. Karen. Conversation, Legos, games, construction toys and a movie will round out the evening. Please bring a peanut and nut-free snack and beverage.

Theater Outing
Meet us at the Budd Lake Office for a trip to the Pax Amicus Theater to see Little Red and a Wolf Named Fred. As advertized: “Come see Little Red, Big Red, Grandma, Wolfgang, Peter, the FOUR Little Pigs and Fred as they learn that they’re all not that different after all!” After the play, we will travel back to the Budd Lake Office lunch. Please pack a bag lunch.

Craft Night and Pizza
Join us for an after-school afternoon. We will get busy with an art project and then take a break for a pizza dinner. We’ll finish with a recent DVD. Feel free to bring a bag dinner if pizza isn’t your favorite.

Games and Crafts
We will start outside on the playground, so bring a jacket. We will also have our usual games and activities, art supplies, foosball, air hockey and a movie. Snack is on us tonight--5/15 was National Chocolate Chip Cookie Day, so guess what we’ll be having!

Parent Program
Join us for light refreshments at the office at 6:30pm. We will get settled in and then tune into a webinar presentation beginning promptly at 7 p.m. The subject is: Medicaid, SSI and Other Important Entitlements— “Learn how to maximize your health coverage, navigate the system, gain coverage under other programs such as Medicaid and Medicaid-funded waivers, and master appeal procedures.” Please register as space is limited. Unfortunately children cannot be accommodated.

Saturday, June 1
Field Trip to Donaldson Farms
We will meet at the Budd Lake office and travel together to Donaldson Farms in Hackettstown. We will pick strawberries in the front fields, see the animals and enjoy music and children’s activities at the Perennial Fest at the greenhouse. Bring a disposable bag lunch for our picnic. Pick up will be back at the office. If you live near the farm, we can make a plan to meet you there. If the forecast
calls for bad weather, we will make alternative arrangements.
