Strengthening Families

Advancing Opportunities recognizes the challenges and offers a free, 14-week family skills training program in Mercer County. The 14-week program gives parents and children, ages seven through eleven, the tools and resources they need to stay strong and stay together.

The Strengthening Families Program is designed to increase resilience and reduce risk factors for substance abuse, depression, violence and aggression, delinquency, and school failure in high-risk children and their parents. The objectives of the program are:

  • Improve Family Relations
  • Increase Parenting Skills
  • Improve Child’s Behavior
  • Increase Child’s Social Competencies
  • Reduce or Prevent Alcohol & Drug Abuse
